By Air
Victoria International Airport (YYJ)
Victoria International Airport is located 25 km north of downtown Victoria.
- Taxi
- Taxis are always waiting at the terminal building. The fare to downtown Victoria averages $54.00
- Shuttle Bus
- Akal Airporter provides service to all downtown hotels. Fares are $18, or $11 for groups of four or more.
- Public Transit
- BC Transit route 83 service, connecting the airport terminal with routes 70, 71, 72 and 73 from Sidney to Victoria at their their 'Park n Ride' lot beside the airport, is scanty on weekends and approximately hourly other days. However, the Airporter shuttle will provide service to the Park n Ride, a 0:03 trip, for a fare of $3.00. The BC Transit fare is $2.50 to anywhere in the system. Note that BC Transit buses are not well suited to carrying large items of luggage.
- Rental Cars
- Several car rental companies have counters in the Arrivals area of the terminal. Note that a car is unlikely to be useful during the convention. Cars can be rented in Victoria if needed later.
Victoria Harbour Airport (YWH)
Several marine aviation companies provide service from Vancouver and from Seattle to Victoria's busy harbour. This is a great way to get an overview of the city. Ground transportation would be a short stroll or taxi ride to downtown hotels.

By Sea
Note that Victoria is on Vancouver Island, to which there are no bridges or causeways.
- BC Ferries
- BC Ferry Corporation's route from Tsawassen to Swartz Bay
provides the marine portion of Highway 17 from Vancouver to Victoria,
transiting the Strait of Georgia and the scenic Gulf Islands hourly.
The duration of the voyage is 1:35. The Swartz Bay terminal is 31 km
north of downtown Victoria.
- Private Vehicle
- Allow waiting time at Tsawassen Terminal. On busy days you may have to wait a sailing or two. Reservations and assured loading tickets are available at extra cost. Current conditions are posted on the BC Ferry website. The drive from Swartz Bay to Victoria takes at least 0:30.
- Pacific Coach Lines
- Buses leave Pacific Central Station in Vancouver 90 minutes before scheduled ferry sailings and terminate a block from Chateau Victoria. Trip duration is 4:00.
- Foot Passenger
- Purchase ticket and proceed to the ferry
at least 10 minutes ahead of sailing time.
- Taxi
- The fare from Swartz Bay Terminal to downtown Victoria averages $65.00.
- Pacific Coach Lines bus
- One can join a Pacific Coach Lines run from Vancouver by contacting the driver at his desk on the ferry at the beginning of the voyage.
- Public Transit
- BC transit buses will be waiting at the Swartz Bay terminal. The fare is $2.50 to downtown Victoria, or anywhere in the system. Route 70 trips take 0:55, route 72 and 73 trips take 1:10. Note that BC Transit buses are not well suited to carrying large items of luggage.
- Victoria Clipper
- Clipper Navigation provides passenger service from downtown Seattle with a fleet of high-speed catamarans.
- MV Coho
- Black Ball Ferry Line provides service four times a day in summer from Port Angeles WA, across the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the Olympic Peninsula. The duration of the voyage is about 1:30.
- Washington State Ferries
- Daily service between Anacortes WA near Bellingham, and Sidney BC north of Victoria transits the scenic San Juan Islands and Haro Strait.
- Your own vessel
- Greater Victoria Harbour Authority provides berths in Victoria's Inner Harbour below the Parliament Buildings and the Empress Hotel. Vessels entering Canada must clear at the customs dock before berthing.
